Accent Adopts Synchronicity's Developer Suite to Connect Customer and Internal Design Teams in Several Cities
Project Collaboration and Design Management Software Enables Secure Multi-site Collaboration over the Internet
MARLBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 17, 2001--
Synchronicity Inc. today announced that Accent has standardized on
Synchronicity's Developer Suite(TM) to boost the productivity of
multi-site, multi-company System-On-Chip (SOC) design. The Developer
Suite is a bundle of Synchronicity's DesignSync® tool for secure
multi-site design management and their ProjectSync® tool for team
collaboration and issue tracking. Before standardizing on it, Accent
successfully used Synchronicity's software to complete a complex
Telecom SOC involving engineers at two Accent and two ST
Microelectronics (NYSE:STM - news) sites.
By supporting their chosen methodology and enabling multi-site
version control, the Developer Suite enabled the master design
database to reside in Accent Genova, while the ST Microelectronics
teams in Agrate Brianza and Grenoble carried out system-level
simulation and verification in parallel. Simultaneously, the
device-level simulation and verification was done by Accent engineers
in Vimercate. The master database contained all data related to the
design including the documentation.
To maximize return on their hardware investment, Accent used
DesignSync, in conjunction with Platform Computing's LSF load
balancing software, to distribute design simulations for execution
over their intranet. The design environment hardware was comprised
mainly of Sun workstations with several PCs.
